Pomino Vendemmia Tardiva

The Pomino Vendemmia Tardiva is a blend of Chardonnay, Traminer Aromatico, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio from the estate vineyards of Castello di Pomino, Pomino and Rufina. The grapes are over ripened on the vines and harvested at the end of October and November. The wine then spends 12 months in new French oak barrels before bottling.

Tasting Notes – 2007
The wine shows a dense amber-yellow color with gold highlights. The nose all but explodes with a profusion of fruit and citrus impressions: dried apricot, figs, and prunes with hints of orange blossom and honey. The palate is pleasingly delicate and refined with a delicious balance between measured sweetness and fresh acidity. Its creamy finish is nicely edged with citrus.

Food Pairing Suggestions
Enjoy it with blue cheeses, particularly Italy’s Gorgonzola, or simply sip it on its own. For the adventuresome, pair it with foie gras.
