Pomino Rosso DOC

The Castle of Pomino produces the Pomino Rosso DOC using the grapes Sangiovese, Black Pinot, and Merlot. Matured for 15 months in oak barriques and refined for a year in the bottle. The color is ruby red, the aroma is intense and vigorous, and the taste is velvety and persistent.

Tasting Notes – 2006
Pomino Rosso shows a lively, purple-veined ruby color in the glass. Full-fruited aromas of dark cherry and wild red berries predominate, enriched by pungent spice and wild herbs. The wine has exceptional balance in the mouth, where a judicious amount of alcohol blends nicely with well-calibrated tannins and a tangy, delicious acidity. It concludes with a savoury finale that is sustained and expansive.

Food Pairing Suggestions
This wine goes well with roasted lamb, guinea fowl with olives, marinated duck or grilled pork ribs. It also pairs nicely with aged cheeses.
